WHY BREAK UP WHEN WE CAN BREAK UP??? NIGERIA NEEDS A BREAK AND A BRAKE.

The amalgamation of Nigeria in 1914 by lord lugard is a very controversial and successful take over of different regions economy. The move which critics claim was not a welcome development by the southerners at the time due to the fact that it was done to offset budget deficit in the northern protectorate with the surplus in the south.

The opening paragraph is just a simple illustration of a key important part of Nigeria's creation and can help us to understand my emphasis and reason to what I propose. Even though some readers may see this as trying to paint a “greater than you” picture with my opening paragraph. The real point from the  illustration depicts the honest economic development plan for both regions by Lord Lugard at the time has been misconstrued and abused over the years and scars the effort to have a United Nigeria.

In my opinion, I do not think it's economically sensible to remain as a country with the federalism practice. Politically, it's going to be a hunt for a white whale oil in 2016. The possibility of achieving these two objectives successfully is very slim and if it does, the growth of Nigeria under the federalism practice will be undermined in our age and our kids to come.

Every ethnic group or tribe will have one or two claims following the power sharing formulae the political parties are stuck with. The idea of sharing power explains the idea of governance the leaders have in their head. Little regard for objectivity, viable plan and accountability is a norm in the political class. This power sharing virus doubles down into the the fold of citizens over time.  A common belief is that the northern parts of the country claims the ruling of the country as a birth right, obviously, the south thinks not.

So there are two options I think we may begin to look at in a bid to restructure the country so it can take a rightful economic position in the world and create a better environment for her citizens.  We can either take out all the clueless politicians which by the way is up to 90%  or revert to a regional rule. Either option is a good option. It solves the agitation of Biafra and any other group who are tired of the hardship and are trying to channel their anger towards something.

However, the effect of population on a nation's economy can not be overemphasized.  To build a Nation's economy, total advantage of the nation's population must be fully taken advantage of, creating supportive and helpful policies that directly impact ease of doing business or working.  A nation like Nigeria with so much population should use its manpower to create massive pathways to greatness for the nation in terms of innovations, industrialization, science and technology. A little investment automatically multiplies through transfer of skills and knowledge and private investors are attracted in the same stream.

Colonizing the African Market

A typical example is to use our geopolitical strengths as north and west have exceptional  skill for agriculture and very rich land to cultivate.  And agricultural corridor can be created, in fact more like and agricultural city.  Government should go and negotiate markets with African countries. As Nigeria alone can cultivate African agricultural markets. Have a deal that can open market for Nigeria's agricultural produce in other african countries (lets conquer africa first). It's only a matter of time before Nigeria becomes the country all other African countries look up to for agric produce.

On the other hand,  our Igbo brothers are good at manufacturing (we call it fake). In quality management, there's nothing like fake, it could be of a less quality except  such product  has a stolen trademark or brand on it without original brand owners consent. In some cases we have fake items that are of better quality.
so how do we leverage on this skill?

Industrialize this region. Regulate quality control with clear policies passed into laws for this industry. Reduce importation of everything that can be produced in this country, fake or original. Now job is been created, innovation is encouraged, a foundation has been laid. All these things are not rocket science. Stop building bridges that give no economic value or train tracks that adds nothing but Britt to the country. Capital project is a spelt doom for Nigeria at our stage, what we need is profitable projects that provides service and improves economy.

Have a good day!!
